A LAWYER BY ACCIDENT. Article 286 of the Criminal code of Ukraine

Article 286 of the Criminal code of Ukraine - violation of the rules of traffic safety or transport operation by persons which operate vehicles

1. Violation of the rules of traffic safety or transport operation by the person which manages a vehicle that resulted in losses to the victim of average weight injury, -

punishable by a fine from two hundred to five hundred untaxed minimum incomes, or correctional labor for a term up to two years, or with arrest for the term up to six months, or restraint of liberty for a term up to three years, with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years or without such deprivation.

2. The same acts, if they resulted in death of the victim or caused serious bodily injury, -

shall be punished by imprisonment for the term from three till eight years with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years or without such deprivation.

3. Actions envisaged in part one of this article, if they entailed death of several persons, -

shall be punished by imprisonment for the term from five till ten years with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years.

Note. Vehicles in the present article and articles 287, 289 and 290 should be understood all kinds of cars, tractors and other self-propelled machines, trams and trolley buses, as well as motorcycles and other motor vehicles.
