MILICIIA OR POLICE IN UKRAINE

The Law of Ukraine "On the National Police» № 580-VIII from July 2, 2015 was published in the Gazette of the Verkhovna Rada (VVR), 2015, № 40-41, st.379
The law will enter into force three months from the day following the day of its publication. That is, the entry into force will take place on 07.11.2015.

This law defines the legal basis for the organization and activities of the National Police of Ukraine, the status of police officers, as well as the order of service in the National Police of Ukraine.
In accordance with the Law of the National Police of Ukraine - is a central executive body that serves the community by ensuring the protection of human rights and freedoms, combating crime, maintaining public security and order.
Police activity directed and coordinated by the Cabinet of Ministers through the Minister of Internal Affairs under the law.
The objectives of the police is to provide police services in the areas of:
1) Ensuring public safety and order;
2) protection of human rights and freedoms, as well as the interests of society and the state;
3) combating crime;
4) the provision to the extent permitted by law, services of assistance to those who out of personal, economic, social reasons or due to emergencies are in need of such assistance.
In its activities, the police guided by the Constitution of Ukraine, international agreements of Ukraine, consent to be bound by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, this and other laws of Ukraine, acts of the President of Ukraine and resolutions of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted in accordance with the Constitution and laws of Ukraine, acts of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, and issued pursuant thereto acts of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and other legal acts.

Simultaneously with the entry into force of this law becomes null and void the Law of Ukraine "On Militia". In accordance with the law, police in Ukraine - State armed executive body that protects the life, health, rights and freedoms, property, the environment, the interests of society and the state from illegal encroachments.
The main tasks of the police to 07.11.2015 year are:
1. ensuring the personal security of citizens, protection of their rights and freedoms and legitimate interests;
crime prevention and suppression;
2. The protection and maintenance of public order;
3. detection of criminal offenses;
4. participate in the disclosure of criminal offenses and search for persons who have committed them, in the manner prescribed by the criminal procedural legislation;
5. The road safety;
6. protection of property from illegal and criminal
encroachment;
7. execution of administrative penalties;
8. participation in the provision of social and legal assistance to citizens, assistance within its competence, public authorities, enterprises, institutions and organizations in carrying out their statutory duties.
Thus, the 07/11/2015 with the police in Ukraine will not.
From the date of publication of the new law all police officers, and other employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, its territorial bodies, institutions are considered to be in the prescribed manner warned of a possible impending dismissal on grounds of redundancy.
Police officers who wish to serve in the police, provided it meets the requirements of the police, defined by this Law, within three months from the date of publication of this Law may be recruited to the police by issuing orders on the appointment, with their consent, or the passage of competition for positions is replaced by police officers in any organ (institution, establishment) police.
Police officers who refused to serve in the police and / or recruited to the police within three months from the date of warning of the impending release, dismissed from the service in the internal affairs of the staff reduction.
Police are allowed to carry and use uniform, for certain police officers, before the approval of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine sample of regimental uniform police and provide them with the established procedure in accordance with approved standards.
Until December 31, 2016 Police are allowed to use identification cards, letterheads, stamps, logos and emblems of the police and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
