The bodies of state civil registration, conducting state registration, are departments of state civil registration district, borough, city (cities of regional importance), city district, inter-district departments of Justice, the executive bodies of village, town and city (except the cities of regional importance ) councils.

State registration of civil status of citizens of Ukraine residing or temporarily staying abroad, diplomatic missions and consular offices of Ukraine.

State registration of birth of an individual subject and its origin, marriage, divorce in cases established by law, change of name, death, according to the Family Code of Ukraine and the Civil Code of Ukraine, the Law of Ukraine "On state registration of civil status" and other legislative acts.

Information on individual birth and its origin, adoption, deprivation and restoration of parental rights, marriage, divorce, change of name, death subject to mandatory inclusion in the State Register civil citizens in accordance with the Order of the State Register civil citizens approved Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine of 22.08.2007 № 1064.

Due to the inability to perform the powers of the state departments of civil registration of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol in the temporarily occupied territories of the state registration of civil status, changes to the record of civil status, renewal and cancellation of the applications of citizens of Ukraine living the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine shall be made public departments of civil registration outside that territory.

According to statements of citizens of Ukraine who moved from the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine, state registration of civil status, changes to the record of civil status, renewal and cancellation of units carrying out state registration of civil status at the place of the applicant's appeal.

Diplomatic missions and consular offices of Ukraine conducted state registration of birth of an individual and its origin, marriage, divorce, change of name, death for the citizens of Ukraine, accept and consider applications for amendments to the record of civil status and their renewal and cancellation.
