Chronology of events:

In June of this year, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine at a meeting decided to delegate three government representatives to the competition committee to elect the director of the Economic Security Bureau.

In January, the council passed a bill to create the Bureau of Economic Security (BEB), which will eliminate the tax police and deprive the SBU of the ability to engage in economic crimes.

The Bureau of Economic Security will become a new law enforcement agency that will take over the powers of the tax police (DFS) and some units of the SBU dealing with solving economic crimes. The draft law defines the tasks and powers of the BEB, control over its activities, legal status, duties and responsibilities of employees, the basis for its cooperation with government agencies.

The maximum number of employees of the Bureau can be 4 thousand people; the official salary of employees with a special rank cannot be less than 20 living wages.

BEB will start its work when it is 30% of its staffing;The Bureau of Economic Security of Ukraine is formed by the President of Ukraine in accordance with this law;

The government will coordinate its work.
