World day against trafficking July 30 30 July declared world day against trafficking in persons on 18 December 2013 the General Assembly of the United Nations, which is celebrated annually starting in 2014. This decision was made in connection with the need to raise awareness about the situation of victims of trafficking and to promote and protect their rights. According to the current Criminal code of Ukraine human trafficking is one of the most serious crimes for committing of which provides for liability in the form of imprisonment up to fifteen years with confiscation of property. Thus, according to article 149 UK of Ukraine (human trafficking or other illegal transaction concerning a person) human trafficking or other illegal transaction, the object of which is man, as well as the recruitment, transfer, shelter, transfer or receipt of a person committed for the purpose of exploitation, using deception, blackmail or vulnerable state of a person, - shall be punishable by deprivation of liberty for a term of three to eight years. Actions envisaged in parts one and two of article 149 committed against a minor or by an organized group, or combined with violence dangerous to the life or health of the victim or his family, or with threat of such violence, or if they entailed grave consequences, - shall be punishable by deprivation of liberty for a term from eight till fifteen years with confiscation of property or without it.
